Plate and Cube Polarizers
JML supplies polarizing plates and polarizing cubes that consist of two right-angle prisms cemented together with a multi-layer, dielectric coating at the cemented interface. Alternately, we supply two airspaced prisms mounted in a cell. All entrance and exit faces are antireflection coated. These polarizers separate the S and P components of an input beam of unpolarized light allowing the P component to transmit through the polarizer while reflecting the S component.
We supply custom polarizers in various sizes to meet your specific requirements, allowing you to choose a size from our stock polarizers. We have polarizers for medium to very high power usage.
Please refer to our standard windows (BK7 and fused silica windows, respectively) for substrate sizes available for plate polarizers. Our BK7 and fused silica right-angle prisms are listed for use as the two halves of a cube polarizer.
Our polarizing coatings are available for a wide variety of extinction ratios and wavelengths. Please refer to our standard polarizers listed on the next several pages and also see our coating section for other available polarizer coatings.
If you do not find a standard polarizer that meets your needs, please supply us with the following information so we can quote a custom-made polarizer for your application.
Half-wave retardation plates also are available for use with our polarizing beamsplitters. If placed in front of the polarizing beamsplitter, a variable-ratio beamsplitter can be created.
High-Power Thin-Film Plate Polarizers
Unlike our Laser Line BK7 Plate Polarizers, these thinfilm polarizers are designed for use at a 45º incident angle thus making them more useful for many beam splitting/combination applications. These polarizers are both precise and well-suited for high-power uses.
Laser Line Polarizing Cube Beamsplitter (Low-Power Cemented)
Although cemented beamsplitters are not suitable for high-power use due to the vulnerability of the cement layer, they can handle reasonable power density levels. See the specification listed above. A wide range of visible wavelength capabilities are available.
Dichroic Sheet Polarizers
JML now offers dichroic sheet polarizers that are ideal for low-power and visual applications. A dichroic polarizer selectively absorbs one polarization and transmits the orthogonal polarization, so when a randomly polarized beam passes through a dichroic polarizer, the exiting light is linearly polarized. Our sheet polarizers are insensitive to the angle of incidence and available in two mounted standard sizes: 12.7 and 25.4mm.
