Hot and Cold Mirror Coatings
Hot mirrors reflect infrared and transmit visible light. Cold mirrors behave in exactly the opposite way- reflecting visible and transmitting infrared. Hot or Cold mirrors can be used to overlay two beams of widely different wavelengths. One beam is transmitted through the surface of the mirror; the other beam is directed to reflect off the mirror.
