Microscope Objectives
JML microscope objectives are manufactured to exacting standards to ensure the sharpest imagery. All objectives are manufactured in brass housings with a standard 36 TPI Whitworth (Royal Microscopical Society Standard) thread for consistency of mounting. Lens elements are individually centered and precisely mounted to minimize coma. Each element is coated with MgF2 to maximize transmission and to provide a bright, high-contrast image.
All objectives are marked with their magnifying power, tube length and numerical aperture. The engraving of each objective is color-coded per ISO standards to correspond with the appropriate magnification. Please see Figure B-1 for the ISO magnification color coding chart.
Our DIN type objectives have a shoulder height of 45mm and a mechanical tube length of 160mm. Both standard achromatic and plan (for critical flat-field applications) types are available. Typical cross-sections of both are shown in Figure B-2.

JML also provides special type objectives which have 45mm shoulder heights and mechanical tube lengths of 240mm, 195mm or designed to be used at infinity. All objectives are shipped in individual plastic cases for easy storage and protection.
Microscope Eyepieces
Microscope eyepieces are designed and manufactured to the same high standards as our microscope objectives. Mounting diameters are fabricated to fit standard 23mm diameter microscope tubes, ensuring precise location of the eyepiece in the primary focal plane of the objective. Eyepieces provide sharp, flat field imagery and are individually marked with their magnifying power. Each element is antireflection coated with MgF2. For use with low power objectives, the Huygenian type eyepiece is recommended. Figure B-3 shows a cross-section of a typical Huygenian eyepiece. These eyepieces consist of two plano-convex lenses with both plano surfaces facing the user. JML’s wide-field eyepieces are recommended for use with high power objectives (see Figure B-4 for cross-section). Certain eyepieces have provisions for focusing and insertion of a reticle in the focal plane. JML also offers a 10×-20× Zoom eyepiece and a 10× Filar eyepiece. The overall magnification of the system is equal to the objective magnification x the eyepiece magnification. Please see the product listing below and on the following pages for more specifications.
