SPHERICAL VS. ASPHERIC LENSES

HOW THEY’RE USED IN IMAGING APPLICATIONS

Optical Lenses are often categorized by their shape. Two common surface shapes are spherical and aspherical. Each offers unique characteristics that make it suitable for different use cases.

A term referring to small (less than 2mm in size) lenses, beamsplitters, prisms, cylinders or other optical components commonly found in endoscopes or microscopes. Micro-Optics are also used to focus light in semiconductor laser and fiber optic applications.
