Coating plays a vital role in optics and optical assemblies to help optimize desired transmission and reflection effects within an optical system. Thin film coatings allow for optics to be more precise and complex without adding more elements. That is why it is important that the engineering staff at JML is excellent at designing optical systems that use many different coatings to meet the customer’s requirements.
Coating at JML
JML has 8 coating chambers on site to coat optics that are manufactured in facility as well as coating-only services for customers as well. The ability to coat optics in house allows JML to save time on delivery by allowing the entire process to stay at the facility. JML’s ability to have a wide variety of coating also allows us to better control the quality of the lenses and their coatings.
JML has an experienced coating staff who excel working with a wide range of coating types on many different substrate sizes. Our coating department is very familiar with different types of antireflective, reflective, and beamsplitter coatings. The coating, quality, and engineering teams work closely to make sure the coatings perform in the way they were designed and are tested for performance as well as durability.
